These are the stories of my trials and tribulations from my globetrotting, jiu-jitsu and life changing adventures. I have chosen this path in hopes of obtaining a deeper understanding for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and to further my quest of self discovery. I am a purple belt with big aspirations of earning a black belt some day. You'll hear about amazing people I meet and continue to inspire me. My journey is also documented with beautiful photographs I have taken along the way.
I especially liked this part:
ReplyDeleteKo continues to advocate for a larger presence of women in a sport primarily dominated by men. She encourages other women to train
and compete. [...]
“Jiu-jitsu has instilled confidence and self-reliance in me. It’s the core part of who I am,” Ko said. “Jiu-jitsu, I think, is important for women because it gives them the tools to protect themselves. Their presence in a male dominated sport proves the essence of the jiu-jitsu, which is technique over brawn.”
It's great to see that female BJJers are becoming more prominent now, and most importantly, for their abilities, not how they look.
